Economics & Finance Department Chairperson, 2010 – Present
Oversee design and development of department policies and program to meet Performance Management Process objectives. Compile data and draft annual reports for college senior administrators. Create course schedules and assign classes to full time and adjunct faculty. Support curriculum development and draft letters of intent to propose community partners for Marketing Communications degree and ensure changes in curriculum adhere to college and state requirements as well as ACBSP Common Professional Component.

  • Recruited additional faculty specializing in Finance of Real Estate (PhD) to support Real Estate Investments Analysis and Financial Markets courses in new degree program for Financial Economics.
  • Collaborated with School of Professional and Community Development (SPCD) to offer Certificate in Securities Markets (Securities Industries Essentials – SIE) to community.
  • Composed and submitted Quality Assurance Report for Reaccreditation of the Business Degrees of the School of Business 2018.
  • Led faculty proposal for B.S. in Financial Economics, which was approved and implemented Fall 2015. Graduated first cohort of students after less than three years in June 2018.
  • Authored proposal for 100% online degree in B.S. Financial Economics with approval by CUNY Board of Trustees in October 2017 with approval by the State in February 2019.
  • Established Financial Markets Simulation Lab at Medgar Evers College – to bring Wall Street on campus.

Served as Chief Administrative and Academic Offer of the School of Business. Evaluated projects and approved activities for compliance with fiduciary guidelines. Led curriculum development and drove program expansion to support growing and diverse student body. Forged and maintained partnerships with community members and organizations to provide real world experience and insight for business students. Led composition and submission of grant proposals to fund new facilities and technologies.

  • Revitalized the School of Business by evaluating curriculum, expanding external grant funded activities, and enhancing the image of the School and the College in the local community.
  • Spearheaded improvements in instruction to increase student skills and comprehension in accounting and business management.
  • Increased number of full-time faculty from 13 to 20 with addition of five women and one Asian professor to diversify staff.
  • Successfully led faculty through approval process of designing, drafting, and submitting two new baccalaureate degree programs (BPS in Applied Management and BS in Computer Information Systems), which were approved by the CUNY Board of Trustees, in less than three years.
  • Led faculty in establishing system for systematic outcomes assessment, developed an Outcomes Assessment Plan, and conducted outcomes assessment over a period of five years as part of an accreditation self-study.
  • Directed generation of external grant funds after more than seven years without external grant funded activities. After three years, school secured more than $450K for grant funded activities and further raised $500K in the following two years.
  • Established HUD-funded Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC).
  • Upgraded Small Business Center with more than $25K in grant funds to offer 45-hour Small Business Entrepreneurship Certificate workshop and other small business-oriented training after more than seven years of no activities.
  • Improved performance of accounting majors in the Uniform CPA examinations more than 50%, with more than a 25% increase in percentage of students taking CPA examinations.
  • Increased ratio of student credits taught by Academically Qualified faculty from 33% to more than 42%.
  • Established several collaborative activities with community-based organizations to re-establish school’s connection with the local community.
  • Created opportunities for faculty consulting and student internships increased by more than 50%. With more than $50K in annual State sponsored VTEA grant funds, the School introduced technology-enhanced instruction in accounting and business and expanded faculty development activities.
  • Oversaw development of The Brooklyn International Trade Development Center as Deputy Director (September 2006-December 2010).
  • Headed the Transportation Job Access Study for Low Income and Public Assistance Residents in Northern Brooklyn and Southeastern Queens (NYC) as Principal Investigator and Project Director (March 2002 – August 2003). Planned and coordinated activities of faculty and staff from three universities: Polytechnic, Pratt and Medgar Evers College – CUNY.
  • Grew Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC) as Project Director (October 2000 – April 2004) and coordinated implementation of community development activities in HUD funded partnership program between the College and a broad coalition of community-based organizations.
  • Led School of Business Community Partnership Initiative as Project Director (October 2000 – June 2001).
